How Do You Solve A Problem Like Britain?
Monday May 31st 2010 Alongside Byron Vincent in Cardiff, Wales.
More details coming soon!
Synopsis: Britain Is In A Mess
In poems, prose and satirical songs, I will take a (hopefully!) hilarious look at problems facing Britain. Topics include tv, transport, drink, dustbins, money and members of parliament. (Including some unique solutions and a performance of Jupiter from the Planet Suite, in which will be revealed exactly how we can solve a problem like Britain!
The poems are fast-paced, rhyming and rhythmic, and the songs are a modern twist on some well-known tunes from the past, and some famous pieces of classical music are performed with satirical lyrics added for good measure.
After all, why be sad about the state of Britain when you can come and laugh at it?

Background: Inspiration
I have always loved satirical songs, and when I started watching sadly and recently deceased Rory Bremner, John Bird and John Fortune in their various incarnations since 1992 and saw their song pastiches on a regular basis, I always thought they were very clever.
Since beginning my career as a performance poet in 2006, I have always performed satirical material, and gradually started writing more and more songs for my act.
Recently all the UK’s problems seem to have come at once, with the banking crises, MPs expenses, MPs incompetence (but then that was always there) dumbing-down on TV, the transport system failing and of course, the binge drink culture.
At the same time, all satirical performers Christmases seem to have come at once, with the banking crises, MPs expenses, MPs incompetence (but then that was always there) dumbing-down on TV, the transport system failing and of course, the binge drink culture.
I thought it would be interesting to perform a show and see if a solution could be found to these problems…and indeed there is!
Come along to find out what it is, and How we Can Solve a Problem Like Britain!!
